Third Grand Chess Tour Event Begins in Croatia

The Croatia Grand Chess Tour Rapid and Blitz, the third event of the 2021 Grand Chess Tour Series, will be launched on the 6th of July in Zagreb.

The line-up:

Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France, rapid rating - 2831), Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia, 2791), Alexander Grischuk (Russia, 2784), Anton Korobov (Ukraine, 2781), Jan-Krzysztof Duda (Poland, 2774), Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Azerbaijan, 2761), Viswanathan Anand (India, 2751), Anish Giri (the Netherlands, 2731), and Jorden Van Foreest (the Netherlands, 2543). 

Ivan Saric (Croaria, 2650) will play in rapid and the 13th World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov (Russia/Croatia, 2783) in blitz. 

Traditionally, the grandmasters will compete in 9 rounds of rapid chess (July 7-9) and 18 rounds in blitz (July 10-11).

The prize fund is 150,000 USD.
