Ugra Chess Academy Takes Part in IT Forum

The team from Khanty-Mansiysk played in an online chess tournament.

On June 8, Ugra Chess Academy took part in an exhibition dedicated to online technology during the 8th international IT forum for BRICS and SCO.

The stand of Ugra Chess Academy demonstrated chess teaching software and offered an opportunity to play with a chess robot.

The Chess Planet playing zone carried out an international rapid chess tournament attended by teams from Khanty-Mansiysk, Tyumen, Salekhard, Tomsk, Poikovsky, and India.

Natalia Komarova, Governor of Ugra, said: “Ugra, just like many other BRICS countries, is well known for its chess traditions, however, this is the first time we actually carry out such online tournament... Perhaps all the players liked this new format, and we will continue organizing such events in future. We must prepare for the upcoming big chess events in Ugra – 2019 World Cup, and, hopefully, 2020 Chess Olympiad...”

Anatoly Karpov, 12th World Champion, saluted the tournament participants online.

The team from Salekhard emerged the winner of the events.

There was also a chess puzzle contest prepared by the trainers of the Ugra Academy, which gathered about 30 participants of all ages. Sherzod Shaimkulov won the main prize – a PC provided by DEPO Computers.

There was also a special quiz for the younger visitors of the exhibition with special prizes for the most active contestants.
