Vladislav Kovalev Wins Main Tournament of Aeroflot Open 2018

A traditional chess festival Aeroflot Open 2018 finished in Moscow. As usually, the competition will consist of three groups according to the rating of the participants - А (2549 and more), B (2299-2550) и C (2300 and less). 

The main tournament A was won my Vladislav Kovalev (Belarus), who didn't lose a single game in the event and eventually scored 7 points out of 9. The winner qualified for the super tournament in Dortmund (July 12-23, 2018). S.P. Sethuraman (India) and Dmitry Gordievsky (Russia) shared 2-3 places. Thanks to his superior tie-break, the Indian grandmaster took the second place.

Mikhail Mozharov (Russia) became the winner of the tournament B with 7.5 points. Alexander Moskalenko (2nd place, Russia) and Dorian Rogozenco (3rd place, Romania) are half a point behind.

Gleb Apryshko (Russia) showed the best result in the tournament C - 7.5 points. 2-4 places were shared by Ivan Babikov (2nd place, Russia), Valentin Vlassow (3rd place, Russia), and Mark Basencyan (4th place, Armenia).

The prize fund is 120,000 euro. Special prizes for seniors, women, and juniors (amounting to 2500 euro) were set as well. 

The organizers are Aeroflot, the Russian Chess Federation, and the Association of Chess Federations.
