Wesley So Wins Wijk Aan Zee

Gawain Jones topped Tata Steel Challengers.

The two main tournaments of the chess festival in Wijk aan Zee ended on January 29. 

In Tata Steel Masters, Wesley So defeated Ian Nepomniachtchi and won the supertournament. Dmitry Andreikin defeated Levon Aronian, Wei Yi lost to Radoslaw Wojtaszek, Loek van Wely defeated Pentala Harikrishna, Bashkaran Adhiban defeated Richard Rapport. Two games ended in a draw – Carlsen-Karjakin and Giri-Eljanov. 

Magnus Carlsen took second place. Adhiban, Aronian, and Wei Yi tied for third place.

Grandmasters Gawain Jones won the Tata Steel Challengers with 9 points and will play in the main tournament next year. The only Russian, grandmaster Vladimir Dobrov, finished with 4.5 points.
