Women played in the Octyabrsky Club on the Men's Day

Dina Drozdova prevailed

On February 23rd, when Russia celebrates the Defender of the Fatherland Day, the Octyabrsky Club in Moscow held its traditional women's blitz tournament. The winner of the 12th club championship that took place on the 36th anniversary of the club, was determined only in the final round.

The international master Dina Drozdova utilized the last round losses of her main rivals Galina Strutinskaya, WGM and the two-time Serior World Champion (who was leading the whole tournament), and WIM Nadezhda Khamrunova, finishing first with 8.5 out of 11.

Galina Strutinskaya and WIM Maria Fominykh were half a point behind. Strutinskaya got the second place on the tie-break. Among the top finishers were also WIM Nadezhda Khamrunova, WGM Darya Charochkina, and WIM Maria Bezgodova, all with 7.5 points.

WFM Tatiana Bogumil won the Young Seniors category, surpassing Lyudmila Frantsuzova on the tiebreak. Svetlana Filippova was third in this category. The correspondence grandmaster Lyudmila Sergeevna Belavenets won the Elder Seniors category. WFM Anna Akopova took the Junior prize.

The prize fund for the Seniors was secured by the international master Anatoly Shvedchikov.
