World Youth Under-16 Olympiad Starts in Turkey

Russian team ties score with China in Round 1. 


The World Youth Under-16 Olympiad started in Konya, Turkey, on November 25. 48 teams are taking part in the event. Team composition: 4 players and 1 reserve (one of whom must be a girl playing at least 3 rounds). Team Russia (average rating is 24400) has the second staring number and is represented by GM Andrey Esipenko, FMs Dmitry Tsoi, Stefan Pogosyan, Volodar Murzin, and WFM Kamaliya Bulatova, coach - GM Mikhail Kobalia. 

Rating favorite is Uzbekistan (2520). India, Azerbaijan, and Iran compose Top-5 together with Uzbekistan and Russia. 

The Russian national team made a draw with China in the first rounds (K. Bulatova won, A. Esipenko and V. Murzin drew their games, while D. Tsoi lost).
