The FIDE World Chess Championship Match will be held at Expo 2020 Dubai from the 24th of November till the 16th of December, 2021.

Organised by the International Chess Federation (FIDE), the postponed 2020 championship will see the reigning world champion, Magnus Carlsen of Norway, defend his title against the winner of the delayed Candidates Tournament, Russian GM Ian Nepomniachtchi.

The total prize fund is EUR 2 million, with the winner getting 60% of it (55% in case of a tie).

The match consists of 14 games with a classical time control. A player, which scores 7.5 points first, will be declared the winner. A tie-break will be played on the 15th of December if the score remains equal.
