European Individual Championship Begins in Serbia

Around 500 players will participate.

The European Individual Championship is taking place in  Vrnjacka Banja, Serbia, on 3-13 March. According to the FIDE regulations for the FIDE World Cup and the ECU Board decision, 23 players will qualify for the FIDE World Cup 2023. 

The event has brought together 484 players, including the Russians Andrey Esipenko (2680), Alexey Sarana (2668), Evgeniy Najer (2666), Aleksandr Rakhmanov (2635), Maksim Chigaev (2632), Alexander Motylev (2621), David Paravyan (2584), Mikhail Kobalia (2577), Aleksandra Goryachkina (2576), Arseniy Nesterov (2568), Rudik Makarian (2557), Volodar Murzin (2554), Klementy Sychev (2549) and others. The Russian participants will play under the FIDE flag. 

The starting list is headed by Gabriel Sargissian (2699), Haik Martirosyan (2686, both from Armenia), David Anton Guijarro (2685, Spain), David Navara (2685, Czech Republic), Jules Moussard (2684, France), Alexandr Predke (2684, Serbia), Radoslaw Wojtaszek (2682, Poland), Andrey Esipenko, Boris Golfand (2674, Israel), and Ivan Saric (2674, Croatia).

The event is an 11-round Swiss tournament. The match days are 3-13 March. The games will start at 5 PM Moscow time.
