First Round of Nutcracker-2018 Played in Moscow

The first round of the traditional generation tournament Nutcracker-2018 was played in the Central Chess Club in Moscow on December 17. 

FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich, RCF Executive Director Mark Glukhovsky, and RCF Deputy Executive Director, the tournament's Chief Arbiter Alexander Tkachev gave speeches at the Opening Ceremony.  

In the "Kings" vs. "Princes" match, Andrey Esipenko defeated Peter Leko, Evgeniy Najer lost to Alexey Sarana, while the games Gelfand - Paravyan and Lomasov - Short were drawn. 

The score is 6-2 in favour of "Princes" (in standard chess, players are awarded 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a lost game). 

Round 2 pairings:

Gelfand - Esipenko, Najer - Lomasov, Paravyan - Leko, Sarana - Short

In the Boys and Girls’ tournament, Kamaliya Bulatova bested Aleksey Grebnev, while the games Goltseva - Safin, Makoveev - Dimitrova, and Murzin - Obolentseva ended in draws.  



The score is 5-3 in favour of Team Girls.

Round 2 pairings:

Murzin - Goltseva, Makoveev - Bulatova, Obolentseva - Safin, Dimitrova - Grebnev 

There is both online and video broadcast with grandmasters' commentaries organized on the RCF website. Chess lovers are welcome to visit the tournament and listen to grandmasters commenting on the games. The entrance is free.
