Primakov Gymnasium Team Wins Belaya Ladya Final

Second and third places go to Moscow and Sverdlovsk Oblast respectively.

On June 10, the final part of the All-Russian chess competition "Belaya Ladya" among secondary school teams, ended in the "Sochi Park Hotel". Having been in the lead throughout the tournament, the Yevgeny Primakov Gymnasium team (Moscow Oblast) won the final match 4-0 to finish 3.5 points ahead of the closest pursuers. The team lineup: Maksim Chertkov, Aleksandr Usov, Alexander Fedosov, and Iren Lyutsinger. The team coach is GM Igor Yagupov.

Igor Yagupov's students from the Primakov Gymnasium have taken the Belaya Ladya final for the second year in a row. They won the main prize: a ticket into prestigious international competition together with a sightseeing programme. We congratulate and wish more athletic and creative success for winners to come!

All in all, there have participated 87 teams – 85 Russian teams from various regions and two foreign teams from the Republic of Belarus and Kyrgyzstan.

We would like to mention the success of the Gymnasium No. 44 of Cheboksary: No. 50 seed ended up taking 6th place! Results of systematic work on developing chess in the Chuvashia Republic, actively supported by its Head Oleg Nikolaev, are there for everyone to see. Many large-scale chess competitions have taken place in Chuvashia in recent years, inclusive of the Russian championship Superfinals among men and women. This year's August 2-12 will see the stage of the Youth Cup of Russia in Cheboksary, which is expected to bring together about 400 young athletes. The general partner of the tournament titled "Chocolate Cup" is a state-famous Chuvash confectionery factory "Akkond". Eligible to participate are boys and girls aged 9–15 years old.

The Belaya Ladya final was a 9-round Swiss tournament. The line-up of teams is 4 players (with at least one young female player) born in 2009 and up and one coach. An extensive additional programme with master classes, lectures, conferences, classes with grandmasters, various sports and intellectual games was a traditional part of the competition.

The Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation and the Chess Federation of Russia, co-supported by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the Timchenko Foundation, take responsibility for the overall competition management as part of the federal project "Sport is a Norm of Life". General partner of the CFR — PhosAgro. Partners of the competition are Aeroflot, the federal territory "Sirius" and the Sochi Park Hotel recreation facility.
