Russian Team Championships Start in Sochi

The open and women's events will be held on November 18-29.


The 27th Russian team championship and the 21st Russian women's team championship will be held in the Grand Hotel Zhemchuzhina in Sochi on November 18 (arrival) will November 29 (departure).  

The open tournament is a round-robin event featuring 10 teams. The rating favourites are Mednyi Vsadnik (St. Petersburg), the Moscow team, Molodezhka (Tyumen region), CPRF (Moscow), M. Botvinnik School (Moscow), and Ladya (Republic of Tatarstan). 

There will be 13 teams in the women's tournament (Swiss system, 9 rounds). The top seeds are Ugra, the Moscow team, Olympic reserve school (St. Petersburg), Cimmeria (Republic of Crimea), Moscow region, and Ladya (Republic of Tatarstan).

Pairings and results

The event is held subject to compliance with the requirements of the authorization acts adopted as part of the fight against COVID-19 on the territory of the Krasnodar region as well as with the Regulations on organisation of the official sports events in Russia in the context of maintaining risks of COVID-19 spreading confirmed by the Russian Minister of Sport O. Matytsin and the Top sanitary official of Russia A. Popova.

All participants (players, accompanying persons, coaches, arbiters, the OC members and others) are to comply with the Regulations on the inflectional safety.

A player is permitted to take part in the event only if he/she has a negative COVID-19 test within three days before the start.  

The match days: November 19-23 and 25-28. The rest day is on November 24. All rounds start at 3 PM (Moscow time).
