Nurgyul Salimova to Challenge Aleksandra Goryachkina in Women’s World Cup Final

Praggnanandhaa outplayed Erigaisi on a tiebreak.

The city of Baku saw the tiebreak games of Round 6 of the FIDE World Cup – the quarterfinals and semi-final in the Open and Women's tournaments, respectively. 

In the Women's section, Nurgyul Salimova and Anna Muzychuk traded blows in rapid games. Game one with the 10+10 time control ended in Bulgarian player's favour, and game two ended in a draw. Thus, Nurgyul Salimova won the match with an overall score 3.5-2.5 to face Aleksandra Goryachkina in the Final.

Anna Muzychuk and Tan Zhongyi will challenge each other for third place.

In the Open tournament, Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa and Arjun Erigaisi could determine the stronger of the two only in the first 3+2 blitz game, which was taken by Pragg.

Semifinal pairings:

Carlsen – Abasov

Caruana – Praggnanandhaa.
