Siberia takes a sole lead

The all-start team overcame University (4-2) in the round 5.

Two leaders of the Russian Premier League met in the round 5: University (Belorechensk) and Siberia (Novosibirsk). The latter team won on second and third boards (Levon Aronian outplayed Dmitry Andreikin, and Dmitry Jakovenko was stronger than Baadur Jobava), four other games were drawn. A 4-2 match victory gave Siberia an unchallenged lead, and, quite possibly, the champion's title, as in the final two rounds it faces outsiders from Kazan and Yamal.

In another principled encounter Malachite (Sverdlovsk Region) defeated Bronze Horseman (St. Petersburg). The only victory in this match was scored by Viorel Bologan, who won against Vladimir Fedoseev. 

Lada defeated Yamal, SHSM (Moscow) won the match against Kazan.

1. Siberia – 10 points (19 board points), 2. University – 8 (17), 3. Bronze Horseman – 6 (18.5), 4. Malachite – 6 (16.5), 5. Lada – 4 (14), 6. SHSM – 4 (13.5), 7. Kazan – 1 (11.5), 8. Yamal – 1 (10).

In the women's championship SDYUSSHOR SHSH (St. Petersburg) drew with Ugra (Khanty-Mansiysk) 2-2. University lost to Boavista (Moscow) 1-3, SHSM defeated Grozny (Chechen Republic) 4-0, Donchanka drew with Glek Academy 2-2, and Kuban lost to Kazan 0-4.

The Seniors Championship has come to an end. Bronze Horseman from St. Petersburg won the championship with 6 match points and 10 board points. Two other teams also collected 6 match points, but remained second equal due to scoring only 9.5 board points – Our Heritage (Moscow) and Lada (Samara Region).
