Russian Blitz and Rapid Championships start in St. Petersburg
Vladimir Malakhov and Maxim Matlakov are the top seeds.
The St. Petersburg Hotel hosts the Russian Rapid Championships on May 13-14. On the next day, May 15, the Russian Blitz Championships are played. Both championships are held as 11-round Swiss.
Vladimir Malakhov and Maxim Matlakov are the highest seeds in the men's events. Valentina Gunina and Alexandra Kosteniuk are the rating favorites of the women's championships.
