Stage of Russian Rapid Grand Prix Takes Place in Koltsovo
Five rounds were played on the first day.

The first stage of the Russian Rapid Grand Prix is taking place in Koltsovo, Novosibirsk region. The Lev Sandakchiev Memorial features more than 200 participants including 14 grandmasters.
The leader after 5 rounds is Valery Sviridov, who won all the games. GMs Aleksej Aleksandrov, Dmitry Kryakvin, Mikhail Demidov, Ilia Iljiushenok, Sergei Yudin, IMs Roman Kezin, and Semen Khanin are trailing by half a point.
The final 6 rounds will be played on January 11.
