Women's Speed Chess Championship Starts on Chess.com

Ning Kaiyu and Anna Ushenina became the finalists of first qualifier.



The Women's Speed Chess Championship organised by FIDE and Chess.com began on June 18. 223 players took part in the first Swiss event. 

The eight first players, including the Russians Valentina Gunina, Aleksandra Goryachkina, and Polina Shuvalova, qualified for the Play-Off, from which two finalists then advanced to the next stage, Grand Prix. 

Ning Kaiyu (China) and Anna Ushenina (Ukraine) became the finalists and joined the seeded players of the Grand Prix stage - Hou Yifan (China), Humpy Koneru (India), Ju Wenjun (China), Kateryna Lagno (Russia), Alexandra Kosteniuk (Russia), Anna Muzychuk (Ukraine), Irina Krush (USA), Zhansaya Abdumalik (Kazakhstan), and Sarasadat Khademalsharieh (Iran).

The second Swiss event and the Play-Off will be held on June 19.
