Аlexander Grischuk and Ilia Iljiushenok Lead Race at Aeroflot Open

The tournament goes into Round 5.


Monday, March 4, the traditional international chess festival Aeroflot Open 2024 continued at The Carlton Hotel, Moscow. This day saw games of rounds 3 and 4. 
 
With 3.5 out of 4 points, Alexander Grischuk and Ilia Iljiushenok (both from Russia) have taken the lead after the second day. Trailing half a point behind are as many as 26 chess players, including the Russians Artem Uskov, Erdem Khubukshanov,  Pavel Ponkratov, Andrey Esipenko, Arseniy Nesterov, Denis Khismatullin, Aleksey Grebnev, Sergey Drygalov, Ivan Zemlyanskii, Pavel Smirnov, Sergei Lobanov, Ivan Rozum, and Aleksandr Shimanov. 
 
The Russian Youth Cup goes into Round 5 as well.
 
U15, open:

1. M. Demchenko (Tyumen Oblast) - with 4 points out of 4, 2-8. G. Rakhmanov, B. Golovchenko (both from St. Petersburg), M. Gilfanov, M. Ivannikov (both from Moscow), R. Gazimagomedov (Kostroma Oblast), L. Varankin (Moscow Oblast), E. Kuus (Leningrad Oblast) - 3.5 points each. 
 
U15, girls:

1-2. D. Khafizova (Moscow) and U. Dudkina - 4 points each, 3-9. M. Makarova (both from St. Petersburg), E. Evsikova (Moscow), R. Sokolova (Nizhny Novgorod Oblast), A. Artemova (Komi Republic), E. Fedorenko (Moscow), V. Popenkova (Leningrad Oblast), E. Tereshchenko (Moscow) - 3.5 points each. 
 
U13, open:

1-4. Е. Knyazkov (Moscow), M. Belousov, A. Lezhnev (both from Chelyabinsk Oblast), I. Shustikov (Vladimir Oblast) - 4 points each.
 
U13 girls:

1-2. T. Mozolevskaya, A. Yunker - 4 points each, 3. P. Korobova (all of Moscow) - 3.5 points.
