Alexandra Kosteniuk and Valentina Gunina Have Perfect Score in Warsaw

Carlsen, Duda, and Jobava are leading the open event.

The first rounds of the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Championships were played in Warsaw on the 26th of December. There were five rounds in the open tournament and four in the women's.

The open championship is led by Jan-Krzysztof Duda (Poland), Magnus Carlsen (Norway), and Baadur Jobava (Georgia), who have got 4.5 points each. Thirteen players, including Ian Nepomniachtchi, Alexander Grischuk, and Vladimir Fedoseev, are trailing by half a point.

Alexandra Kosteniuk and Valentina Gunina (both representing CFR) have taken the lead in the women's event with a perfect score. Nana Dzagnidze (Georgia), R Vaishali (India), Nataliya Buksa (Ukraine), and Anastasia Bodnaruk (CFR) are half a point behind.  

The next four rounds of both events are scheduled for tomorrow, the 27th of December.
