Alexandra Kosteniuk Wins Final GP Leg of Women's Speed Chess Championship

She will face Anna Ushenina in Super Final.

The final match of the fourth Grand Prix leg of the FIDE Chess.com Women's Speed Chess Championship was played on July 19.   

The Russian Alexandra Kosteniuk defeated Humpy Koneru (India) 7-5. In the match for the third place, Hou Yifan (China) crushed Sarasadat Khademalsharieh (Iran) 7.5-2.5.

It is to be reminded that the Grand Prix consisted of four legs with a total of 21 participants. Each of them participated in three of the four legs. The best players qualified for the Super Final.

Alexandra Kosteniuk took the first place with 24 GP points. Anna Ushenina (Ukraine) and Valentina Gunina (Russia) are 2 points behind. Thanks to her superior tiebreak, Ushenina got the spot in the Super Final.  

The Super Final between Alexandra Kosteniuk and Anna Ushenina will be held on the International Chess Day, July 20, starting from 5 PM (Moscow time).
