Anastasya Paramzina Catches Up With the Leader at World Under 20 Championship

Kirill Alekseenko is second at the open event.

Round 8 of the World under 20 Championship was played in Tarvisio, Italy. In the girls’ group, the Russian Anastasya Paramzina defeated Zhansaya Abdumalik (Kazakhstan) to share the lead with her - 6.5 points. Alexandra Oblentseva (Russia), who bested her compatriot Bibisara Assaubayeba, Ilulija Osmak (Ukraine), Jennifer You (USA), Stavroula Tsolakidou (Greece) and Gulrukhbegim Tokhirjonova (Uzbekistan) are trailing by half a point.   

Aryan Tari (Norway) maintains leadership at the open event with 7 points. Kirill Alekseenko (Russia) and a chess prodigy R. Praggnanandhaa (India) are half a point behind.  Semen Lomasov, Aleksey Sorokin (both from Russia), Xu Xiangyu, Liu Yan, Bai Jinshi (all from China), Murali Karthikeyan (India), Manuel Petrosyan (Armenia), and Tran Tuan Minh (Vietnam) have scored 6 points.
