Andrey Filatov Congratulates Igor Dodon on Winning the Elections

Igor Dodon became the President of the Republic of Moldova.

The presidential elections in Moldova ended on November 13. According to the preliminary results, the leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon received 52.57% votes and won the race.

RCF President, FIDE Vice-President Andrey Filatov congratulated Igor Dodon on winning the elections.

To the President of the Republic of Moldova
Igor Nikolaevich Dodon

Dear Igor Nikolaevich,

I would like to offer you my congratulations on being elected President of the Republic of Moldova! You have emerged victorious from a hard struggle, one could say, from a double-edged midgame where both parties had gained advantage in turns, but the final winner is you, the leader of the Party of Socialists and President of Moldavian Chess Federation.

It was a pleasure to make your acquaintance and to sign the cooperation agreement on school chess at the Chess Olympiad in Tromsø (Norway) in August 2014. I am very glad that the Belaya Ladya tournament has been revived and is being actively developed in Moldova, and that your country’s best team regularly participates in the finals of this international school team tournament in Sochi.

You have once said, “By promoting chess, we attempt to show people that we have goodness and mutual understanding. Many issues and tasks can be tackled together at the negotiating table. Just like chess pieces in a game, we strive together for one goal: to make our life better!” I find these words very congenial and heart-warming.

Dear Igor Nikolaevich, I wish the Republic of Moldova peace, prosperity, and success, and I wish you good health and inexhaustible energy. May you achieve all the goals you set yourself, and may you have every success in your new high office.

Andrey Filatov, President
The Russian Chess Federation

In August 2014, during the World Chess Olympiad in Tromsø (Norway), Igor Dodon on behalf of the Chess Federation of Moldova signed the agreement on cooperation in school chess. Starting 2015, the strongest school team of Moldova takes part in Belaya Ladya finals in Sochi.
