Andrey Filatov Is Nominated For The Botvinnik Medal

Taimanov, Dvoretsky, and Yurkov are included into the Hall of Fame.

FIDE announced the lists of the best trainers and chess promoters of 2016. RCF President and Captain of Russian national team Andrey Filatov was nominated for the Mikhail Botvinnik medal from winning bronze medals at the Chess Olympiad in Baku. The other nominees are John Donaldson (USA), Peter Heiner Nielsen (Denmark; coach of Magnus Carlsen), Ramesh Ramachandran (India), and Oleksandr Sulypa (Ukraine). 

Mikhail Brodsky (Ukraine), Marek Matlak (Poland), Zurab Srurua (Georgia), Xu Jun (China), and Yu Shaoteng (China) were nominated for the Semyon Furman Medal to the best trainers in women's chess . 

Khorso Harandi (Iran), Georg Mohr (Slovenia), Semyon Palatnik (USA), Darko Polimac (Ireland), and Ivan Sokolov (Netherlands) aspire to the Max Euwe Medal to the best junior trainers. 

The Isaac Boleslavsky Medal will be awarded to best chess writers: the nominees are Lorin D'Costa (England), Jesus De la Villa Garcia (Spain), Zenon Franco (Paraguay), Nikolaos Ntirlis (Greece), and Eduardas Rozentalis (Lithuania). 

Tamas Giorgadze (Georgia), Satea Husari (Syria), Robert Katende (Uganda), Peter Heine Nielsen (Denmark), and Jan Plachetka (Slovakia) are nominated for the Tigran Petrosian Medal for special achievements. 

The Yury Razuvaev Medal for participating in trainers seminars will be contested by Mikhail Gurevich (Belgium), Georg Mohr (Slovenia), Oleksandr Sulypa (Ukraine), Reinaldo Vera (Cuba), and Alonso Zapata (Colombia). 

Finally, nine names were included into the FIDE Hall of Fame. Among them are the late Mark Dvoretsky, Vladimir Yurkov, and Mark Taimanov.
