Anniversary of 64 - Chess Review Magazine Celebrated in Central Chess Club

Volodar Murzin wins blitz tournament.


A festive evening dedicated to the 50th anniversary of 64 - Chess Review magazine and 55th birthday of its editor-in-chief Maxim Notkin took place in the Central Chess Club in Moscow on February 6. FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich, RCF President Andrey Filatov, and the Magazine's publisher Igor Burstein greeted the guests. RCF Executive Director and the Magazine's editorial director Mark Glukhovsky moderated the evening.

Sergey Grodzensky and Sergey Smagin shared their impressions on working in this popular Magazine, while Vladimir Linder read out several facetious poems. Then a mass blitz tournament took place. 12 grandmasters, including one of the national team's leaders Ian Nepomniachtchi, were among the participants. However, the 12-year-old Volodar Murzin scored a sensational victory with 7.5 points out of 9. His coach Mikhail Kobalia finished half a point behind. Sergey Zagrebelny took the third place with 6.5 points.

In conclusion, a three-time World champion in chess composition Oleg Pervakov showed several of his new studies, while the World rapid champion-2018 Daniil Dubov examined Volodar Murzin in a short blitz match.
