Belaya Ladya: Play-Off Stage Begins

The final stage of the All-Russian school team competition Belaya Ladya is going on on the https://play.ruchess.ru/ website. In the qualifying event, the teams were divided into two groups, which competed according to the round-robin (Group A, 7 teams of the Far Eastern and Siberian federal districts) and the Swiss systems (Group B, 43 teams of the North Caucasus, South, Central, North-West, Volga and Ural Federal Districts). According to the Regulations, the teams that had shared 1-4 places qualified for the knockout stage. 

The group event finished on September 29. The quarterfinals saw the following matches:

General secondary school №83, Novosibirsk region - Gymnasium №3, Arkhangelsk region

School №18, Republic of Tatarstan - Lyceum Stupeni, Khabarovsk Krai

General secondary school №104, Chelyabinsk region - Gymnasium №1, Kemerovo region

Kurchatov school, Moscow -  Lyceum №15, Republic of Tuva. 

The team from the Novosibirsk region defeated their rivals from the Arkhangelsk region 3-1. The Moscow team beat Lyceum №15 from Tuva with the same score. The Stupeni Lyceum from Khabarovsk Krai lost to the team from Kazan 1-3, while the pupils of the General secondary school №104 from Chelyabinsk won the match against Gymnasium №1 from the Kemerovo region by a narrow margin 2.5-1.5.

The semifinal matches (October 1) will be as follows:

General secondary school №83, Novosibirsk region vs. General secondary school №104, Chelyabinsk region

Kurchatov school, Moscow vs. School №18, Republic of Tatarstan.
