Boris Grachev Takes Lead at Mark Dvoretsky Memorial

Five rounds are completed in the Central Chess Club in Moscow.


On February 10-11, the Central Chess Club in Moscow is hosting the Mark Dvoretsky Memorial. The event features ten well-known players, the majority of whom were Mark Dvoretsky's trainees over the years. The competition is a 9-round all-play-all tournament. Time control: 15 minutes plus 10 seconds increment per move, starting from the first. Five rounds will be played on the first day and four on the second. The games begin at 2:30 PM (Moscow time).  

Boris Grachev has taken the sole lead with 4 points out 5. Andrey Esipenko, Ernesto Inarkiev, and Mikhail Kobalia are half a point behind.

Mark Dvoretsky (1947-2016) – honoured coach of the USSR, Russia, and Georgia. Across the years, Mark Dvoretsky worked with Artur Jussupow, Sergey Dolmatov, Nana Alexandria, Alexander Chernin, Alexey Dreev, Vadim Zvjaginsev, Alexander Riazantsev, Victor Bologan, Pavel Eljanov, Ernesto Inarkiev, Alexander Motylev, Vladimir Potkin, Evgeniy Najer, Ivan Popov, and other chess players. He worked not only with individuals but also with national teams. 

Mark Dvoretsky is the author of several books about chess theory and practice. Among them are the famous series of “School of Future Champions” and “Mark Dvoretsky’s Endgame Manual”, “Tragicomedy in the Endgame”, the two-volume “For Friends and Colleagues”, “Maneuvering: The Art of Piece Play”, “Secrets of Chess Training” and others.
