Boris Savchenko Wins Stage of Russian Cup at Moscow Open-2019

The final ninth round of the XV International RSSU Chess Cup Мoscow Open-2019 was played in the Russian State Social University on February 3. 

Boris Savchenko won the main tournament, a stage of the Russian Cup, with 7.5 points out of 9. Pavel Ponkratov, Sanan Sjugirov, Aleksei Pridorozhni, Igor Lysyj, Dmitry Kryakvin (all from Russia), and Oleg Ivanov (Ukraine) are half a point behind. Thanks to their better tie-breaks, Ponkratov took silver, while Sjugirov finished on the third place.

Anastasia Bodnaruk and Ekaterina Goltseva shared the first place in the women's tournament with 8 points. The winner is Bodnaruk because of her superior tie-break. Bibisara Assaubayeva (3rd place) and Marina Guseva (4th place) scored 7 points each. 

In the Seniors' tournament, Evgenij Kalegin, Evgeny Sveshnikov, Alexander Filipenko, Evgeni Dragomarezkij, Viktor Volodin, Leonid Klots, and Oleg Zilbert shared 1-7 places with 7 points. They were placed in this particular order according to the tie-break.

Elena Fatalibekova (1st place) and Lidia Malinicheva (2nd place) finished the Senior women's tournament with 7.5 points. Galina Strutinskaia is on the third place with 7 points. 

Bibek Thing, the RSSU student from Nepal, won the Amateurs event having scored 8 points and edged out Grigory Aivazian. Vitaly Rodchenkov (both from Russia) is third with 7.5 points.
