Anatoly Karpov Cup Starts in Cap d'Aghe
Four men and four women are playing.
Traditional Anatoly Karpov Cup starts in Cap d'Aghe, France. The participants are Anatoly Karpov himself, Laurent Fressinet, Marie Sebag, Romain Edouard, Tigran Garamian (all – France), Anna and Mariya Muzychuk (both Ukraine), and Zhansaya Abdumalik (Kazakhstan).
A double round round robin in rapid chess is played on October 23-29. The four top players then continue in elimination format. Semifinal takes place on October 30, final is played on October 31.
