Champions Showdown With Garry Kasparov Starts in Saint Louis

The Champions Showdown began in Saint Louis on September 11th. The event features five 20-game matches between Garry Kasparov and Veselin Topalov, Nakamura and Svidler, So and Giri, Shankland and MVL, and Aronian and Dominguez.

On the first 3 days there are 2 rapid (2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw) and 2 blitz games, before ending with 8 blitz games on the final day. Each player has 30 minutes with a 10-second delay per move for the rapid games and 5 minutes with a 5-second delay for the blitz games. The starting positions of the pieces will be randomised according to the Fischer Random or Chess960 variant of chess. 

The participants played 2 rapid and 2 blitz games on the first day.
