European Club Cup Starts in Novi Sad
Top teams won their matches by a large margin.
The first round of the European Club Cup is in the books. All top teams in both men's and women's tournaments defeated their opponents rather easily. In the men's tournament, Siberia defeated Oslo 5-1, Alkaliod def. Schachfreunde Berlin 5-1, Padova defeated En Passant 5.5-0.5, Bronze Horseman defeated Rochade 5.5-0.5, etc. Russian clubs Ladya Kazan, Zhiguli, and SHSM Legacy Square also won their matches by a large margin.
In the women's tournament, which gathered only 14 teams, Cercle d'Echecs Monte-Carlo defeated Lazio Scacchi 3-1, Ladya Kazan lost to NONA Batumi 0.5-3.5, Ugra defeated Fischer Chieti 3-1, SHSM Legacy Square defeated Midland Monarchs 3.5-0.5, and Chigorin Chess Club won against ASVOE Pamhagen 3.5-0.5.
