European Women's Championship Begins in Romania

The European Individual Women's Championship has started in the Romanian city of Iasi. The tournament is a qualification event for the FIDE Women’s World Cup 2022 or 2023. According to the FIDE regulations and the ECU Board decision, at least 10 players will qualify. The number of qualification spots may be increased with a decision prior to the start of the Championship. 

One hundred seventeen players from 29 European countries are taking part. Russia is represented by Anastasia Bodnaruk, Olga Girya, Aleksandra Maltsevskaya, Leya Garifullina, Dina Belenkaya, Daria Charochkina, Viktoria Chernyak, Elena Semenova, Alexandra Zherebtsova, Anna Gvanzeladze, Yulia Grirogieva, Galina Mikheeva.

The event is played in 11 rounds, Swiss system. The match days are August 9-14 and 16-20.
