Game 7 of FIDE Women's World Championship Match Finishes in Draw

The score is 3.5-3.5.


The seventh game of the FIDE Women's World Championship Match between Ju Wenjun (China) and Aleksandra Goryachkina (Russia) was played in Vladivostok on January 16.  

First symbolic moves were made by Wang Xiaochun, Deputy General Consul of China in Vladivostok, and Zhan Kuznetsov, Minister of Sport of Primorsky region.  

Ju Wenjun had the white pieces. The rivals discussed the Ruy Lopez Anti-Berlin, in which they were waging a positional struggle. White opened up the f-file and created some pressure on the kingside. After the queens were traded, the world champion took severals successful manoeuvers and exchanges, so the game transferred to the rook endgame, which was better for White. However, Ju Wenjun was acting imprecisely last some point, and Aleksandra Goryachkina managed to equalize. A draw by perpetual was agreed after Black's 67th move. 




An exhibition called "Chess History Through the History of Pieces" from the CFR Chess Museum is open at the venue. The supervisor of the CFR Chess Museum, candidate of historical sciences Dmitry Oleynikov gave a tour around it to all who wished.
