In the penultimate eighth round of the Sinquefield Cup in Saint Louis, Ian Nepomniachtchi beat Levon Aronian with the black pieces, Fabiano Caruana defeated Hans Niemann also as Black, Wesley So lost to Alireza Firouzja, while the game Dominguez - Mamedyarov ended in a draw.
