Ian Nepomniachtchi Wins Mark Dvoretsky Memorial

Commemoration meeting takes place as well. 


A rapid tournament dedicated to the memory of the Honored coach of the USSR Mark Dvoretsky (1947-2016) finished in the Central Chess Club in Moscow on December 9. Ten grandmasters, who had been Mark Dvoretsky's students in varying years, played a round-robin tournament with the time control 15 minutes plus 10 seconds. 

Results: 

1. Ian Nepomniachtchi - 7 points out of 9, 2. Ernesto Inarkiev - 6,5, 3-4. Vadim Zvjaginsev, Evgenij Najer - 5.5, 5. Vladimir Potkin - 4.5, 6. Alexey Dreev - 4, 7-8. Valentina Gunina, Ivan Popov - 3.5, 9-10. Alexander Riazantsev, Boris Savchenko - 2.5.

Tournament on Chess-Results

Mark Dvoretsky commemoration meeting took place after the tournament was completed. A laureate of international concerts, the harpist Oksana Sidyagina played several musical compositions, while the world chess composition champion Oleg Pervakov demonstrated his two new studies, one of which is dedicated to Mark Dvoretsky. 

A special prize for coaches named after Mark Dvoretsky, which had been established by FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich, was granted to Alexey Dreev and his mentee Alexandra Maltsevskaya and to Mikhail Kobalia and his student Volodar Murzin.
