Indian Schoolchildren Are Close to Win Belaya Ladya Final Tournament

The penultimate round is finished in Dagomys.

The 48th final tournament of the traditional all-Russian scholastic chess team event Belaya Ladya is coming to its end in Dagomys. On Wednesday, June 7, the penultimate round 8 was played. Schoolchildren from India outplayed the Chinese team 4-0 to establish their leading position with 27.5 points scored. The Armenian team is three points behind (24.5). Teams from Sverdlovsk Oblast, Tatarstan and Ulyanovsk Oblast are sharing 3-5 places with 20.5 points. Children from Novosibirsk Oblast and Bulgaria are half a point behind them. 

80 Russian and 17 foreign (Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, China, England, Estonia, Greece, India, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Moldavia, Mongolia, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia) teams are taking part in the competition. The organizers are the Russian Chess Federation and Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation. The competition is also supported by Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Elena and Gennady Timchenko Charitable Foundation, Renault Russia Company, Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System (FGC UES), and PhosAgro.

On Thursday, June 8, the last 9th round will be played. The key matches are Ulyanovsk Oblast - India, Sverdlovsk Oblast - Armenia, Arkhangelsk Oblast - Tatarstan, and Bulgaria - Novosibirsk Oblast.
