Magnus Carlsen Wins Grand Chess Tour Stage in Leuven

The World Champion repeats his Parisian success.

The second leg of the Grand Chess Tour finished in Leuven. Magnus Carlsen won the tournament having repeated his success of the 1st GCT stage in Paris. The World Champion scored 25.5 points out of 36 after both rapid and blitz events. 

Wesley So is second with 22.5 points. Maxime Vachier-Lagrave is half a point behind. Vladimir Kramnik has got 18.5 points, Ian Nepomniachtchi scored 18 points. 

Final standings:

1. Magnus Carlsen - 25.5, 2. Wesley So - 22.5, 3. Maxime Vachier-Lagrave - 22, 4. Anish Giri - 20, 5-6. Levon Aronian, Vladimir Kramnik - 18.5, 7. Ian Nepomniachtchi - 18, 8. Viswanathan Anand - 16, 9. Vassily Ivanchuk - 15.5, 10. Baadur Jobava - 3.5.
