Mark Dvoretsky Commemoration Meeting Takes Place in Central Chess Club

A. Dvorkovich proposes to establish Dvoretsky’s grant.

On December 9, the Central Chess Club in Moscow hosted the event dedicated to the memory of Mark Dvoretsky (1947-2016) and timed to the 70th anniversary of the prominent coach’s birthday. Mark Dvoretsky's disciples, friends, and colleagues Artur Jussupow, Sergey Dolmatov, Vadim Zvjaginsev, Valery Chekhov, Vladimir Potkin, Boris Postovsky, Sergey Voronkov shared their memories about him. A book entitled «From Friends and Colleagues», issued for the anniversary date, was presented as well. 

Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, member of the RCF Board of Trustees Arkady Dvorkovich proposed to establish Mark Dvoretsky’s grant, which would be given by the Foundation for Support of Chess Creativity and the RCF to promising young chess players to enable them to work with best coaches of Russia. 

The prominent chess composer Oleg Pervakov told about the Contest of composing chess studies «Dvoretsky - 70» and showed several brilliant award-winning works. According to Pervakov, the Contest was quite strong and representative.  

A famous bard Timur Shaov sang Mark Dvoretsky’s favourite songs. Laureat of international contests Oksana Sidyagina performed several musical compositions on a harp. The event was hosted by Mark Glukhovsky and Vladimir Barsky.
