Moscow Blitz Championship Announced

The traditional event will be held in Gorbushkin Dvor Mall on September 6.

The Moscow Blitz Championship will come to a new venue this year - a large mall, located rather remotely from the city center. The event will be sponsored by the Liga Stavok betting company, and the opening ceremony will be attended by FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov. 

The first Moscow Blitz Championship was played in 1948. Among the winners of this legendary competition in various years were Mikhail Tal, Vassily Smyslov, Tigran Petrosian, and Garry Kasparov. 

This year the tournament attracted a number of top blitz players of our country - Ian Nepomniachtchi, Alexander Morozevich, Dmitry Andreikin... Women Chess Olympiad champions Kateryna Lagno and Valentina Gunina will also play in the main event. 

The games will be streamed online with live commentary by grandmaster Sergey Shipov.
