Moscow to Host Russian Youth Championships for First Time Ever

The Nepomniachtchi vs Ding Match fan zone will be opened at the venue.

From April 13 to April 28, the hotel complex "Izmailovo Alpha" is to carry out the Russian Youth Championships. It is the first time that Moscow hosts competitions of this caliber. The event will bring together about 1500 athletes from over 80 regions of the Russian Federation.

The programme includes a chess composition competition (April 14-15), Russian Blitz Championship (April 16), Russian Rapid Championship (April 17-18), Russian Championship and the All-Russian "First League" competition (April 19-27), as well as the Russian Junior U-21 Championship (April 19-27). 

Volodar Murzin, Arseniy Nesterov, Rudik Makarian, Mariya Yakimova and Yana Zhapova, and other promising chess players will take part in the junior events. 

A ceremonial opening of the fan area for the FIDE World Championship Match between Ian Nepomniachtchi and Ding Liren is scheduled on April 14, 15:00 p.m. The area will operate on Alpha Hotel's first floor premises.

The Youth Championships has an extensive additional program traditionally organized for its participants and accompanying persons, including various seminars, master classes and trips to the CFR Chess Museum. 

Overall management of the competition is subject to the Ministry of Sports of Russia and the Chess Federation of Russia.
