Olga Mylnikova Wins Nizhni Novgorod Region Women's Championship

Alyona Korchagina finished second due to the inferior tie-break.

The women's chess championship of Nizhni Novgorod Region was attended by 16 players from Nizhni Novgorod, including two WFMs. The most experienced of the players was 81 years old, the youngest participant was a 6-year-old. 

WFM Olga Mylnikova, student of the Junior Olympic Sports School #3 (trainer – V. Kuporosov) won the title with 6 points in 7 games. WFM Alyona Korchagina, who also studies in the same school and under the same trainer, tied with her for the first place, but remained second due to the inferior tie-break score. Candidate master Natalia Baryshnikova (Junior Sports School #9, trainer A. Yatsenko) finished third with 5 points. 

Darya Yurasova (Junior Sports School #9, trainer A. Yatsenko) showed the best result among schoolchildren, collecting 4.5 points. Larisa Alekseevna Abramian was the strongest among seniors with 4 points. 

At the closing ceremony of the championship, Ilya Zavivaev, president of Nizhni Novgorod Regional Chess Federation, congratulated the winners and invited all players to take part in the Volga Federal District championship, which will be organized in Nizhni Novgorod in March 2016.
