Nutcracker Generation Tournament: Kings Strengthens Leadership

Queens and Princesses keep balance.


On December 20, round 2 of the Nutcracker Generation Tournament was played in the Central Chess Club in Moscow. 

In the open event, Alexei Shirov defeated Grigoriy Oparin, Boris Gelfand outplayed Daniil Yuffa, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov bested Andrey Esipenko, while Sergei Rublevsky lost to Vladislav Artemiev. Kings won 6-2 in round 2, and the score is 11-5 in their favor. 

Round 3 pairings:

Artemiev - Shirov, Oparin - Gelfand, Mamedyarov - Yuffa, Rublevsky - Esipenko.



In the women’s section Ekaterina Goltseva won her game against Tatiana Grabuzova, Ekaterina Kovalevskaya outplayed Aleksandra Dimitrova, while the games Solozhenkina - Strutinskaia and Maltsevskaya - Zaiats were drawn.  The round finished with an equal score 4-4, and the balance is kept - 8-8.

Round 3 pairings:

Dimitrova - Grabuzova, Goltseva - Strutinskaia, Zaiats - Solozhenkina, Kovalevskaya - Maltsevskaya.
