Pavel Ponkratov Wins Rapid Grand Prix In Suzdal

His tie-break prevailed in a five-way tie.

A Russian Rapid Grand Prix leg – Elizaveta Bykova Memorial – ended in Suzdal. The tournament gathered 121 players from 5 countries – Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Germany. Russian players came from 17 regions. The race was extremely tense, and in the end five players shared the first place with 8.5/11. The tie-break regulations ruled in favor of grandmaster Pavel Ponkratov (Chelyabinsk). Alexey Dreev finished second, Sergey Volkov was third, Dmitry Andreikin was fourth, and Vitaly Bernadsky from Ukraine remained on the fifth place. 

Margarita Schepetkova from Vladimir won the women's section. Evgeny Vasiukov (Moscow) won the seniors section among men, and Galina Strutinskaya (Moscow) won the women's seniors section.
