RCF President Andrey Filatov and President of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan Alisher Sultanov visit Uzbekistan’s best chess school

During a visit to Tashkent, President of the Russian Chess Federation Andrey Filatov was acquainted with the activities of the Republican Specialised Children’s and Young People’s Chess School, which FIDE has recognised as the best specialised school in the region. Filatov was accompanied by President of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan Alisher Sultanov. 

Komil Sindarov, Director of the Republican Specialised Children’s and Young People’s Chess School, told the visitors about the work of the school, its pupils and successes.  
The Republican Specialised Children’s and Young People’s Chess School was built on the initiative of the Republic of Uzbekistan’s first President, Islam Karimov, and opened in August 2014. The main mission of the new educational institution was to consistently popularise chess and train gifted chess players capable of worthily representing the country in global arenas. Children of from 6 to 16 years in Tashkent can now spend their free time on their favourite game and improve their chess skills.

The school is the best equipped in the region and includes training rooms, a sports hall, canteen and other premises. The electronic chess boards meet world standards. The school has special chess halls accommodating up to 100 players at a time. In the Internet-connected computer room, the students can play online with children of their own age in other countries and improve their skills.
