The second round of the Norway Chess super tournament was played in Stavanger on the 8th of September. A win in a classical game is worth 3 points and a loss 0. If the players draw, they play an Armageddon game, where the winner earns 1.5 points and the loser 1 point.

All three matches were drawn in the classical part, and the "sudden death" games determined the winners. Ian Nepomniachtchi surprised Alireza Firouzja with the King's Gambit and convincingly crushed his opponent. Magnus Carlsen defeated Aryan Tari, whilst Richard Rapport managed to hold a draw against Sergey Karjakin as Black.

Standings after Round 2:

3. Alireza Firouzja - 2 (2)
4. Ian Nepomniachtchi - 1.5 (1)
5. Sergey Karjakin - 1 (1)
6. Aryan Tari - 1 (2).
