Kirsan Ilyumzhinov Visits RPFU Planet 2016 Tournament

Alexander Morozevich had a simul there, too.

A traditional chess tournament was played at the Russian Peoples' Friendship University on April 21 in Moscow. FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov visited the event as an honored guest. In his welcome speech he promised to arrive next year as well. 

FIDE President gave memorable gifts to the Rector and his Deputy. Alexander Zhukov, President of Russian Olympic Committee and First Deputy Speaker of Russian State Duma, sent his regards in a letter. 

Grandmaster Alexander Morozevich carried out a simul, playing against everybody who wanted to test their strength against the three-time Chess Olympiad champion. None of the participants managed to defeat the grandmaster. 

The RPFU Planet 2016 tournament attracted 60 players. Konstantin Bazarov, editor of Chess Boulevard website, took the first place. Evgeny Kochengin finished second, Thing Bibek, RPFU student from Nepal, finished third.
