RSSU Cup Moscow Open 2018 Opens on January 27

First games of main events are played as well.


On January 26, the Opening Ceremony of the RSSU Chess Cup Moscow Open 2018 took place in the Russian Social State University. 

The RSSU Rector, Doctor of Economics, National student chess league President Natalya Pochinok, FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, Moscow Chess Federation first Vice-President Nikita Kim, and the Head of the Sport and Tourism Department of Moscow Alexey Kondarantsev gave speeches at the Ceremony.

Dance theatre Star-Express and Bravissimo Choir showed their creative performances. 

The first games of the main tournaments of the festival were played as well. Not all rating favorites celebrated victories in round 1. Thus, in Tournament A, a stage of the Russian Cup, Boris Grachev, Dmitry Kokarev, and Ivan Bocharov drew their games.  

Anastasia Bodnaruk and Olga Babiy lost at the start of Tournament B, a stage of the Russian Women's Cup.  

Anatoly Kremenietsky suffered a loss in Tournament D1 (seniors), while all favorites of Tournament D2 (women seniors) won their games.
