Samara State University Celebrated Its 75th Anniversary
A chess tournament was played.
On May 20, a festival of Lukachev Street was celebrated in the South Campus of Samara State University. This year the holiday was dedicated to the University’s 75th anniversary. A rapid chess tournament was held along with many sports and entertaining activities.The tournament caused quite a stir. Those who wanted to fight for the prizes arrived on and on. Not less than 32 chess players took part in the event, and the number of spectators and fans was innumerable. Rector of Samara State University Evgeny Shakhmatov came to watch the play as well.
The tournament was a round-robin event with 11 rounds.

1. Ismoil Saidov (student, 11 points to of 11!), 2. Vladimir Kalinin (chess veteran, P.E. Department officer), 3. Ivan Somov (student).
