Second Round Games of Moscow Open-2019 Played in RSSU

It didn't go without surprises in women's tournament.


The second round of the XV International RSSU Chess Cup Мoscow Open-2019 was played in the Russian State Social University on January 27. 

In the "A" tournament, a stage of the Russian Cup, rating favourites keep scoring points. The leaders' boards saw only one draw which happened in the game Kardashevskiy - Timofeev. 31 players are leading the pack with a perfect score.  

On the contrary, there were many unexpected results in the women's event. The top seed Marina Guseva lost to Viktoria Korchagina. Daria Charochkina and Elena Tomilova suffered losses as well. The games Kabanova - Badelka, Gritsayeva - Bulatova, Gaboyan - Assaubayeva, and Voit - Kanevskaya were drawn. 15 participants have scored 2 points.

In the seniors' tournament Evgeny Sveshnikov drew his game with Petr Bratus. In the women's section, all rating favourites have a perfect score.

Workshop for International Arbiters, the first one within the framework of a mutual pilot project of FIDE Arbiters' Commission and RCF, finished in RSSU on January 27. For the first time, the questions in the examination test were written in two languages: Russian and English. According to all the participants, this innovation is one of the most important growth factors for level and quality of arbiters' training.
