Semi-finalists of Russian Cup Determined in Khanty-Mansiysk
Marina Guseva and Polina Shuvalova to play in the women's final.
The quarterfinal matches of the Russian Cup final among men finished on December 8. Dmitry Kokarev defeated Nikita Afanasiev 1.5-0.5, while David Paravyan bested Dmitry Bocharov with the same score. Kirill Alekseenko outplayed Alexey Sarana on tie-break (2.5-1.5), while a young player Aleksey Sorokin surprised chess fans by eliminating an experienced Artyom Timofeev (2.5-1.5).
Semi-final pairings: Kokarev - Alekseenko and Paravyan - Sorokin.
In the women's event, Polina Shuvalova defeated Daria Charochkina 2-0, while Olga Girya lost to Marina Guseva on tie-break 1.5-2.5.
Polina Shuvalova and Marina Guseva are to play in the final.
