Sergey Karjakin Receives Silver Fallow Deer Trophy
The award ceremony took place at the Russian Olympic Committee.
Each year the Russian Olympic Committee awards ten best Russian sportsmen, coaches, and teams (named by journalists' poll) the Silver Fallow Deer trophy. This year's ceremony took place on February 2.Grandmaster Sergey Karjakin became one of the winners, together with figure skater Evgeniya Medvedeva, fencer Victorya Boikova, fencer Sofia Velikaya, synchronized swimmers Natalia Ischenko and Svetlana Romashina, pentathlete Alexander Lesun, gymnasts Margarita Mamun and Alia Mustafina, wrestler Soslan Ramonov, and boxer Evgeny Tischenko.
Coach of Russian women's handball team Evgeny Trefilov was named the coach of the year. Russian women's handball team was named the team of the year.
