Sergey Khavsky Memorial Tournament Ends in St. Petersburg

62 players participated.

Sergey Vladimirovich Khavsky, aged 88, famous trainer and chess player from St. Petersburg, passed away on August 10. In his memory, a 9-round blitz tournament was organized at the Sports and Culture Center of Alekhine. The participants remembered Mr Khavsky was an outstanding and attentive coach. Grandmaster Sergey Ivanov spoke for students of Sergey Vladimirovich. Mr Rumyantsev, director of the Alekhine Center, told about his mutual work with the chess veteran. 

The 9-round Swiss blitz gathered 62 players. M.Smirnov and D.Schukin tied for first place with 7.5 points, S.Ivanov and D.Feofanov finished half a point behind. A.Ketslakh was the strongest among seniors with 6 points, N.Sirotkina won the women's prize also with 6 points.
